Caulking
One of our most ubiquitous services; caulking leaves a discreet finish that performs a very important role in log home weatherization.
We caulk the upward-facing portion of any logs that have a check (a splitting crack in the log) over 1/8” to 1/4”.
If left exposed, these areas become moisture traps for water to run into and hide inside your walls. These moisture traps can lead to more cracking and rot if not sealed.
We also can caulk connecting joints on log walls and other areas of intrusion to eliminate drafting and increase energy conservation.
These are often the same areas where flies, ants, wasps, and other bugs find their way into your home. They must be sealed!
We use Sashco’s trusted Log Builder® and textured Conceal® for most of our caulking applications.
